Seek And You Shall Find
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you - Matthew 7:7
Since the original post on DESIRE and what it takes to keep that fire burning, we’ve only shined a light on COURAGE. Sometimes in order for courage to come to the surface, first we must have optimism.

What’s your perspective?
I don’t mean the kind of optimism that sees this glass as half full. Let’s look at it differently. Can we just be glad that we had a glass of water to begin with?
While courage can be fueled and fed through means of self growth, much of the time courage can be extinguished when failure and anxiety compound and stifle our best efforts. So what then becomes necessary to rekindle courage so that we can find the innate DESIRE to pursue our vision for ourselves and those we lead?
The Tribe believes that the answers are already within us and around us. Though the context of the scripture above is regarding faith, it does not require your faith to be applicable in this context. If you so choose it too, then it can have deeper meaning for you in that regard. I’d like to analyze it from a leader’s perspective and specifically how it applies to the next component necessary for fueling DESIRE when COURAGE and success are evading us.
That component is JOY.
Are you struggling to find JOY in your pursuit of a vision? Having your head kicked in by life can do that….. on a daily and sometimes hourly basis. (currently having mine throttled as well btw)
1) Ask and it shall be given to you: When is the last time you demanded something from yourself? The next time you decide to throw a pity party, be sure to ask the host (YOU!) if they’d mind looking at the people around them at said party and remind yourself of the support and love you really have. There is JOY in the smile of your spouse, best friend, children, & laughter along with many other things. If you’d pick your head up you could see it. Demand of yourself to actively look for JOY.
2) Seek, and you shall find: Do you wonder where your JOY comes from? Try this exercise - For one day, in every conversation with every single person you have, take an inventory of JOY. What about that person’s relationship with you, their demeanor, their character, their silliness, and their flaws, brings you JOY? Type it into the notes on your phone and keep up with every person’s list throughout the day. At the end of your day read it before you go to bed. JOY can be elusive for those that sulk and wallow in the mire of life. BUT, if you seek out JOY…. you will find some. (I meant to send this last night but didn’t get it written because my son was distracting me. So I put my computer down and tickled him. There it was. His giggles were my muse for this newsletter. SEEK JOY)
3) Knock; and it shall be opened to you: Are your negative thoughts holding your JOY hostage? Are you struggling to break through barriers in life that are holding back your vision? Don’t just knock - KICK.IN.THE.DOOR!

Sometimes your negative thoughts hold your JOY hostage. Kick the door in.
Get up, move, act, find joy, go for a run, lift something heavy, smile, laugh, stare into the eyes of the person you love most, pray, meditate, go fishing, go for a hike, watch a sunset…. whatever you do….. just make sure you’re not developing Stockholm syndrome with your negative thoughts and anxiety.
Kick down the door of your negativity, give yourself permission to be happy, and go seek out joy in the simplicity of people and life. Have a blessed rest of your week.
